Radiator fans seem to be on almost permanently, even when it's pretty chilly out. Worth getting this looked at, or do these cars run that hot? '04 CV8 with wortec focus pac. It's been doing this for ages but I've never really thought much about it until now. Temperature gauge reads normal (middle of the dial).

I know the fan relay can stick, I've had the fan stay on a few times after the engine is switched off; I think this is a separate issue though. It really spoils the sound of the car when idling, having the radiator fans blasting away, sounds more like a dyson than a car, even with headers etc.

Might be the aircon compressor?

I turned that off to check - agreed it is also quite loud, but drowned by the rad fans.

Noticed this on mine too. I think it's related to the air-con system, and not engine cooling. Switch off the air-con using the button on the console, a few moments later the fans will switch off.

Yes aircond causes radiator fans to come on to help it sort itself out with its condenser.

Thanks folks - I think you're right, I went on a hoon this evening with the windows open and the climate control off - no fan noise, despite twisty roads and a lot of right foot evil

Aren't roads with walls either side very, er, acoustically entertaining? earsbiggrin

I've had this problem for some time now...I've tried all sorts of things including disconnecting/reconnecting/changing the relay, all to no avail. Car went into the dealer for a service & I asked them to have a 'butchers'! Answer - "..the sensor in the thermostat housing is faulty...we can replace it, cost, 112 quid!!" So I've left it for now!
