As requested, I got this response from the "engine" forum.

Doz,

please research then first!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure they are fine on modern ecu'd engines but I run a cobra with a 350 SBC with about 350 bhp. I'm assuming you are running a carb, maybe even a holly, or 2!

I wanted mine set up proerly on a rolling road with all the primary and secondary jets adjusted plus also the spring on the secondary side to bring it in at the right moment on the power & torque curve.

I had major problems finding a rolling road over 300 bhp and someone who really, really knew his way around a carb. Ask lots of questions as you can't afford some one making a 'guess' with your car.

Power Eng were ok but I wasn't convinced.

I have found Tom Airey tuning near Petersfield, Hants. He knows his way around a carb and even has some jets on the shelf!

The only problem for you is he's limited to about 400bhp I think.

The BEST people you can speak to are in Bristol. I can't remember them at the moment but there can't be many. Check out Yell. They specifically have V8 & Carb experience and have a 1000bhp road!!!!!!! They are used to seeing serious cars like yours.

Unfortunately they have atleast a months waiting list.

I will go there when I have my Nitrous fully installed and see if I can do a full power run with them.

Hope this helps a bit. Also I suggest if going for a proper set up buy & install an easy service kit if your secondaries are sealed, plus an easy access plate for the secondary spring. All makes changing very quick and will save you hours of wasted dyno time. Also get a selection of jets on sale or return so you can really get the optimum set up.

My rolling road is this Saturday. Email me if your interested in the result or any other info.

Mark

Anyone got comments/suggestions on this?

These guys are called InterPro and are in Bristol. I have phoned and booked a rolling road test - seem very knowledgeable. They will spend 1 hour safety checking, then power test, will adjust all jetting/timing etc. Takes 3hrs, they are booking 6 weeks in advance.

Thats good advice on the quick change mods for the jets and springs. Think I will look into getting those.
Thanks

Well, to let you in on a secret, mine was put (make that 'strapped') onto a rolling road last week.

It maxed out the road and then some.... and then some more.

The rolling road in question belongs to a certain, Dave 'Rave Talker' Walker of CCC infamy.

Peak power had to be calculated due to the road maxing out, but a conservative calculation showed well in excess of a 'real' 510bhp+.

Given the US/UK power differences, tranny/tyre losses etc. this is in line with the dyno supplied by AS showing 629hp (US) on a bench dyno.

This was with no setup on a VERY hot day. Plenty more to come
