Just changed all the plugs, did it one by one so as not to cross over leads etc..
But now all I get is a click.....no ignition!
Almost seems like the immobiliser has kicked in?
So wots up....

Starter motor sounds possible

Battery is not flat is it

Could try rocking the car (2nd 3rd gear) to free the motor

Are the battery terminals loose? If not it does sound like a sticking starter motor - give it a couple of thumps with a broom handle and try it again. If it works the starter motor's on it's way out.

might have a bad earth on the battery. Check the earth point on the chassis, mine is under the battery and its in a prime place to get dirty. I would first check both battery terminals are clean then if no luck check the earth point.

...hit the starter motor (quite hard!!)and no joy,
...checked the battery terminals & earth (3times) - not a murmur
...rocked the car in 2/3rd (almost of its chasis) - still only a burr then a click AND THATS IT
..... its a lovely day TOO!!

SO where is the "inertia switch" I may as well check everything now... I ONLY CHANGED THE bd spark plugs..

Dead fed up now!!

Every FORD I have ever had has suffered at some time or another with a sticking starter motor.

Although this has never happened on the S in 5 years.

I found the only solution was to remove it and clean the internals. maybe worth a try, perhaps worth trying to bump first to confirm that it is nothing more serious.

....weh hay!! Jump started first time....went a few miles (30 ish ). Garaged her and tried a few successful start ups....
Must have been the starter motor sticking....spot on guys! and Cheers.
Will pop it into the local and have it serviced/fixed...unless it won't start again! My nieghbour (bless him) nearly had a cardiac and pierced eardrums all at once (dont think he's up for another go for some time!
as for me I'm now on AGAIN!
