Slightly off topic, but not having a tv aerial at the moment, and with an installation cost of $259 for a TV aerial to be put in we are thinking of just putting in Foxtel.

This is because we may only be there for the next 7 months and foxtel will cost us about $300 whereas the aerial at $259, and it will have to remain when we leave apparently.

So was wondering how much it costs when to move foxtel when moving house and install it in your new place?

$100 if your lucky.

I just got royally fecked around by fuxtel during my house move.

The house we just moved to had got a foxtel dish installed so when we moved I just plugged the box in and it worked fine with our package.

At the same time I tried calling them to tell them the address has changed...called a few times but after being on hold for 10mins get told the computer system is down.

After a week I finally get through when the computers are working.

Told them our new address and then the girl on the other started with the 'computer said no' type attitude.
First she said we need to have a technician out to plug the box in costing $100
"No I already plugged it in and it works fine, I just need the address changed"
Girl then tries to tell me I am watching the previous house owners package
"Actually no, this was a private house sale and so I know what package the previous people had...I'm definately watching my package"

Girl then says:
"Ok sir I have changed your address and I am now going to disconnect you until a technician comes out next month"

"WHAT?!?!"

Que long argument with this kid on the other end and her saying over and over again how we might have plugged the box in wrong and how we are watching the wrong package blah blah blah.

In the end she goes "Ok sir we wont disconnect you for such a long time and I can see you are watching your own package"

I agree...tired of arguing and couldnt give 2 flying turds about paying for a techo as long as I can get off the phone.

Literally as soon as I got off the phone the fuxtel got disconnected!!!

It took a solid week of non stop calling, being on hold, being passed around, hung up on and told the computer system does not work to establish...I need a technician to come out in a month to reconnect.

BULLst MATE!!! I just cancelled it there and then....No way I am paying for such apalling service!!

Actually i have heard a few complaint along those lines and so maybe i'll give foxtel a wide berth on the basis thats its supposed to be a bit ste as well!

Update tonight is that the landlord will not allow a tv antenna to be installed on the property as they 'do not wish to have it on the property at this time'. I am very very frustrated at this and think it might be a miscommunication from the agents.

Why would the landlord not want it done, especially if we are paying the entire amount to have it professionally installed?

Its a strange one and i'm buggered as those aerials you attach directly to the tv wont work here.

Can i get an in-roof one that is not visible from the outside and are they any good?

Bloody hell...Got the phone bill in today. Believe it or not but we spent a total of $100 calling foxtel to not get a resolution to the problem! $100!!!!

AND we also received a demanding invoice for an extra month of foxtel AFTER we had it switched off...thats in the bin not being paid.

Oh oh and when we cancelled it they said they are sending a pre paid post bag out so we can return the box, remote and cables. Still not had the post bag so the box and remote got launched in to the back of a cupboard...not before using the batteries and cables elsewhere though. Hmmm maybe I should melt all the tin off of the circuit boards in there and sell it to a scrappy scratchchin

Didn't see this one before, yes, I had a fantastic in roof antenna at my (ex) house in Forrestfield, perfect reception, and it can be iffy here as we're too close to the hills.
