I'm in need of a new mobile and the 3 skypephone has caught my eye. 2 for £69.99 one for me and another for the Mrs so would be good to have 2 skype accounts and call/IM each other for next to nothing. Or am I missing something. Obviously Skype out does not work, but I accept that. But Skype to Skype and 3to3 calls is all good.

Are these any good? it will be on PAYG.

I believe they are OK, but 3 disable the skype functionality unless you top up a certain amount (£10?) per month.

I'll stand corrected, but that's what I've been told about the PAYG versions.

That's the confusing part, I picked up a three Buyers Guide today and they say

"If you run out of credit or inclusive minutes on applicable Pay Monthly or PAYG, you can still make calls over Skype".

Yet the T&C's say http://www.three.co.uk/personal/help_support_/term...

'Free Skype calls & messages

Available to all Pay As You Go customers from 1st November 2007 for a limited period, subject to activating a top-up. Free calls are for Skype to Skype calls and free chat is for Skype to Skype chat messages & are valid for 30 days from activating any top-up. Handset dependent & subject to fair use policy.

A fair use policy applies, available on compatible handsets - 4,000 minutes of Skype-to-Skype calls and 10,000 Skype Chat instant messages per 30 day period after each top up. If the fair usage policy is exceeded within the 30 day period from topup 3 may block outgoing Skype Calls and Skype Chat instant messages, users will still be able to receive Skype calls and Skype Chat instant messages. In no further topup is applied access to Skype will be blocked after 30 days. To access Skype again, or reset the fair usage policy the user just needs to top up their phone.'

Confused, me!!

Ta for reply though.

I got one and thought it was a bit crap really. You can actually get Skype on many other 3 phones too. What ruined it for me was your Skype contact had to be online to talk to them. I thought you could use it like a Skype client on your PC to call any number, not just limiting you to Skype contacts.
