VXR Day at Oulton

Hello,

Just thought I would give you a quick rundown of the VXR day I did yesterday (first day of the first course etc).

Nice lunch/Buffet, then out for the technical/cones bit, very very good in Astra 1.6L with bodykits. Then spin around part of the car park with a stunt driver - mental but fun.

Then to the track - which I have never been on one before so a little odd. Oulton Park is really nice with a cool banked corner. Anyway, two demo laps in a Zafira VXR, then drive in the Vetra, VXR8 (as did not gell too well for me and the instructor knew nothing about the car, like it comes with an Aussie engine !!), Zafira (don't laugh really nice actually), Corsa (very disappointed and way to skiddy and twitchy) and then the wonderful Astra. Finally a quick lap with a ex touring drive - which was brilliant.

p.s. To be honest, my VXR8 had 425 miles and a really snappy clutch but was rather nice (would be better with lowered springs etc). Has put me off the VXR8 a little, but I don't really care about track habits for my daily driving and still thinking about the v8 Hyundai Coupe or the Challenger as next Coupes.

Tuesday at Brands for me - did it at Thruxton last year and found the VXR8 the least enjoyable (loved the Astra) but like you say, I couldn't care less about how the daily handles on the track...

I did this yesterday 13th at Oulton.

It was great. Really disappointed in the vxr8 though. Took it out twice because I was disappointed first time.

The astra was great!! Really controlled and you could really chuck it. All in all a fantastic day. Highly recommended.
