Hi

I been offered a transaxle from a Porsche Boxster 1998, is this of any use for my Ultima , if so is it better than a G50 , would it be centre shift or could it use righthand shift . Idea what its worth.

Thanks for your help.

Chris

I'm really not sure what 'box the Boxter runs. Being mid-engined it would be different to the 911, or maybe just inverted as in the Ultima. May be worth giving the factory a ring? It may be the Getrag box? 5 or 6 speed?

Value ..... if it'll do the job, I don't know, £2k, maybe £2.5k. Used G50's are about £1,200ish depending on spec.

Let us know what you find out ..... and ask the question in the Porsche forum!

Spoke to Porsche if its a standard Boxster then its a 5 speed Audi no good , but if its a Boxster S then its a 6 speed Getrag and I could of used that.

We have a Boxter S and the gearchange is soooo sweet.... funnily enough just as sweet as the Getrac that is in the Factory Canam demo car!!!!!!

Have to say that I am not entirelly sure that it is the same getrac box though as the engine in a Boxter is mid rather than rear al la 911....

More detailed info needed before you take the plung I fear.

The one offered is the standard Boxster with 5 speed so will not be using that, anyway it would of been a bit of a problem as I have already fitted the righthand gear shift which does not fit the getrag.
