Hi,
looking at putting the EFI engine into a home build kit car. As this car is post 1993 i assume that it will need to pass a CAT test for SVA. Anybody with any views on the implications to do this.
I dont think this motor is supplied into UK with type approval?
Also does SVA include noise testing if so what are the requirements for either this or indeed any motor fitted.

The engine is GM 500bhp V8 all aluminum small block 7 liter dry sump EFI motor and 7000 rpm redline with a 24 month factory warranty. From the US 2006> Z06 corvette
(as if you lot wouldnt know anyways)

cheers

You'll need to do quite a few mods from stock to make it work in a kit car but with the right ecu map and lambda's it will pass sva. This post will get a better response on the ultima forum. I can supply a plug and play kit if you haven't sourced one.

LS7's are used in the UK and will meet SVA requirements.
Gardner Douglas amongst others can sort you out, although their website dedicated to such engines seems to be up the swanny right now, google cache:

I would imagine if you retained most of the typical emissions control equipment like cats, lambda sensors etc, passing any emissions tests in the UK should be a doddle.

There are other aspects like EGR, and fuel tank vapour re-circ etc...but I reckon you could get away without that.

Either way, removal of some items of emissions control will require suitable ecu re-tuning to a degree. If only to switch fault warning lights off.

Some of the EFILive or HPTuner guys might be able to advise better. Try asking on the Holden Forum too, or Corvette forum.

You'll need a reprogrammed LS7 ecu and harness (I have one of each) with various functions disabled and a pedal assembly. My ecu has the aircon enabled. Then you'll need some adaptors for the oil lines assuming you stay dry sump. You may need to rotate the intake (ultima etc) depending on your chassis and you may need to relocate the alternator and switch to a camaro alternator with revised bracket, belt and a new idler pulley. I relocate the alternator like this for ultima use:

You may need a lengthened wiring loom, again it depends on the chassis. What car are you working with? ETA, ls7 uses an E38 ecu which afaik isn't mappable in the UK, unless you intend to spend days doing it on a RR.

wondered how long it would be for the grass track guys to start using them. got to be better than the old Rover V8's. bet they are faster than the twin engined bike specials now aren't they???

Class 7 and 10 all transverse chevy's I tried posting some pictures but with no joy.

A customer runs an LS6 built motor 400+hp at the wheels in a car 650kgs its very quick can beat twin bikes on a good day getting to the groung is the problem.

I put an LS7 in a BMW mini in the rear.

LS6 or LS2 be the best option for least money and most power let me know how much you want I'll send you a price. Cheers
