Our new kitten, Lexi.

She's very sweet, just 9 weeks old now. Only had her a week, and our other two cats are taking a while to get used to her, but they'll get there I'm sure. smile

laugh

Mum was just a regular DSH, Dad is unknown though as it wasn't a planned litter. I'm not sure if I hope she'll grow into her ears or not, she is rather cute with those big things flapping around...

The cone of shame!

I noticed last week this thing on Indy's stomach - under the skin but on top of the muscle - about the size of a large fat sausage. It seems it was a long bit of infection - possibly from a thorn, or scratch, or fence - who knows.

He had to have an op to debride the muck and now has a seven stitch scar across his belly that looks like he has been chopped in two (as it is not through the muscle it is a lot better than it looks). And he has to wear the cone of shame for a week until the stitches come out. He is not happy!

I think you'll have an easy week, he looks perfectly happy with the situation. wink

Well, in my defense it was a shared house so not my decision on the decor, and my cat wasn't the only animals living there, although the only four legged kind. Thankfully we are no longer there..

Thanks Sibbie owners. Any clue about what else I should expect from the little furry bundle?

Hairballs.

Watch the diet and watch their arses; not uncommon(though not frequent) to find a (usually dry, thank god) lump of poo dangling.

All our kittens had HUGE problems with matting on their necks, armpits and groins, until their adult coats came in - something that could crop up seemingly overnight; give them a good stroking one night and in the morning find a mat the size of your fist...

Usually sortable with a good brush.

Get a furminator, too!

Yup, you can't brush or comb them enough! I normally find fresh knots at bath time, despite daily brushing & combing.
