Hi guys thinking of buying a new focus ST I do a shed load of miles and would appreciate the real mpg any of you are getting.I drive within the M25 and although a diesel muncher is the sensible money for what you get i reckon its fantastic value but i have read about the mpg and it doesnt sound too encouraging.Any input much appreciated.

Normal driving is somewhere between 22- 26 depending on the amount of cruising you can do. It will do 30 35 on a motorway run.

i too do shed loads of miles (well, 20k P/A anyway). Im running a 290bhp conversion and im getting...28mpg. Had it over 30 on a run across to cambridge last week- thats 340miles out of £45 of fuel.

I dont exactly drive like miss daisy, but there is plenty of torque to make decent progress without hooning it everywhere.

I did manage to get it as low as 11mpg once, but thats a different story.

In summary, its not the best in terms of economy, but its not the worst either!

red zed you're just not trying hard enough on all counts.....I have my ST for 18 months and did 70,000 miles....lowest full tank average was 6mpg!!!

Good grief! Even my ST220 manages 20-21 MPG average, and that's mostly town driving!

My wife has an 07 model ST-3 with 3000mls and gets a tank average of 25-26mpg on a 15 mile commute - 1/3 NSL, 1/3 Motorway, 1/3 as a victim of Lancashire's addiction to traffic lights causing about 10mins of crawling traffic. Hooning about 22-23 and a good run about 27-28. Frankly, its disapointing and changes little whether high octane is used or not. Perfect if it did 3-4 more mpg!

However, what a fantastic car....

Guys thanks for your imput the dream is over just bought a 5 month old bmw 1 series 2ltr diesel auto.

. Was feeling depressed when i test drove it but i was won over, the 177 bhp and 258lb was more than enough and the av mpg on my test drive (really giving it some welly foot on the floor stuff for nearly an hour was 48mpg!!!)best of all was the auto gearbox totally seamless, with the miles i do thats priceless

.5 mths old with all the toys £7500 less list so lets see how it goes.Have to say think theyve got something with their "efficiency dynamics, Even the ride with the runflats felt right.

Sorry i guess its herasy to talk BMW hear just wanted to give you the coutesy of replying. Good luck all

Ah, my car is a Z4M! The 'practical' car is the ST. We looked at the 1 series but the boot wasn't big enough.
