crossflow oil leaks
Discussion
Hi, are there any typical places that a crossflow would leak oil from so that I know where to start looking? Should I somehow clean it first so I can spot where it's coming from?
After driving it and when the engine is warmed up, when I stop it leaks about a teaspoonful and then stops, I presume it's because the oil cools down but wondered if this is acceptable.
Thanks,
John.

I found that the crankcase oilseal, sump gasket and rocker covers can leak.If you have an aftermarket oil seal on the crank, they usually only have one lip.The motorcraft seal is double lipped and better. The rocker cover can leak, usually if you fit an alloy rocker cover, you will need a felt gasket and the standard steel cover needs cork. The same with the sump.Alloy aftermarket sump needs felt and standard steel needs cork.
