See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it:

We are hitting 123.9a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying 2.00a ltr. I have been suggested this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn'tcontinue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,whoever
thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join in!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned usto think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place
not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, weconsumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see theprice of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not
purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANYpetrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.
If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!
Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send ittoat least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to atleast ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the
message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reachedover THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and
pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... ..

THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(andnot buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of ussends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt,
all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within thenext 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes
sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRERANGE
It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy yourpetrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e.boycott BP and Esso

Whilst I've been very anti this type of demonstration - now that oil prices are a problem, and not just tax - it's becoming more appealing.

Mind you, it's market forces driving the price, not the oil companies...

To go to esso or bp to buy my fuel would be a PITA so the effect here would be err = nil.

Surely, and I'm only going on what I'm doing and speaking to others:

Many people will be looking to buy the cheapest fuel they can - and with the supermarkets offering various offers for money off a litre, and being the cheapest anyway, this is going to naturally happen?

I NEVER use ESSO or BP - the only branded fuel I ever use is Shell VPower - and now thats at some silly price, I'm feeding mine 95 RON from ASDA...

Boycott Esso and BP. They will lower prices, and the others will have to also.

Tell a friend.

Send to me all of your monies? Ok not that bit.

If petrol sales were the only income for BP then this may have an effect but I suspect that if they don't sell any fuel then they'll just close forecourts down thus making it even worse for us...

Oil is getting more expensive, difficult oil is expensive to extract but selling it at a higher price makes it more viable thus expanding reserves but at a price. Nothing much to be done about increasing demand and diminishing supplies.

If people want to protest about the tax levels or artificial high prices then take a leaf out of the French book - they had their fishemen blockading supplies with fires in the middle of the road last week. All the population of the UK does in way of protest is the equivalent of sending 'a bloody strong email'. Useless.

The stupidity of your idea is even worse than the spelling and grammar and that's saying something.

I apologise for the spelling and grammar. Just passing this one on and didn't have time to edit it for the benefit of the pedants!

As for the idea? It may work, or it may fall prey to the British disease, APATHY!

You may have your opinions on his idea, but it just makes you look even more stupid that you don't give a reason or foundation for your opinion. When you have finished destroying your lego dinosaur castle, please entertain the thread by offering at least a constructive critique.

ETA for example, I think you are being a knob because you have just criticised someone destructively and without asserting a reason or foundation. See?wink

Step 1: Go along to a refinery
Step 2: Observe how many different oil companies petrol tankers fill up from the same refinery
Step 3: Realise that if you boycot 1 company, the other petrol stations will just order more and the overall useage is no less and it will not affect the Oil Majors profits one iota.
Step 4: Just go buy your petrol from wherever you like coz it all comes from the same frikkin refineries and only the additives are different.

Next.

Had this forwarded to me by at least 3 people this week alone.

1. It's a stupid idea, who do you think owns the refinaries which supply all the other petrol retailers such as the supermarkets?

2. 66.66%+ of the cost of fuel is tax.

As one of my friends said to the person who sent it on to them:-

"This email is basically spam - 300 million unnecessary emails just to see if people are sheep"

Beaten by jshell - who works in the industry iirc.

There are only 58 million in the country so who are the other 242 million?

Seems like it started in the US where their population is 300 million plus.

I am protesting against the fuel prices by reducing my use of it to a minimum but my reduction is not on its own going to cripple the oil companies. Only a united front will affect these giants but we can't even get agreement with a few thousand people on pistonheads never mind the rest of the driving public.
