Recently my 94 Audi 80 has developed a knocking, clicky sound from the front passenger side. It only occurs at slow speeds (below about 20) or when turning on full lock and then, its far more apparent going right than left.

I'm no mechanic so I do intend to take it to one later in the next week but having had both front wheels off there are no (to my eyes) noticeable faults.

From what I've read it would be my presumption that its CV joint.

Couple of questions then relating, if it is, whats the usual worst case cost?
And is it safe enough to drive if it is on the way out?

Thanks

Dr G

Check for play in the top mount and anti-roll bar too, but it's safe enough to drive in the meantime provided you're not throwing it around.

I can't imagine it costing more than 200 quid to repair worst case.
