OS dim beam u/s, so disassembled headlamp. Discovered that mounting ring is not attached to headlamp unit (as it appears it should be to enable adjusters to work).

Any thoughts on what to use to re-attach it ... or what not to use ? I thought an acrylic or solvent-free sealant, clearly it must be waterproof.

There are so many holes around the inner lip of the headlamp pod that it looks like a collander . I'll have to use those 'bent-over spire clips' (what are they called? - you know, U-shaped to slip over a flat end with a hole through them for a self-tapping screw) to provide a firm fixing for the reassembled headlamp.

BTW - it's the same on the N/S br, plus that unit was only 'secured' with one screw ... so that's why the beam wobbled around so much .

Woolies describe it as a "captive nut' - but they're not what I would describe as a captive nut - Streaky

I had the same problem with my headlamp pod. Decided the best thing was to fill all ther holes with resin putty and drill some new ones. The bent metal thingies seem a good idea and I'll add these to mine.

'U' nuts it is.

If using them, either make sure they are deep enough (inside of U to centre of hole) or file away some of the GRP or they won't reach.

As it was I used slightly larger self-tapping screws and they hold just fine.

Fixed the mounting ring to the headlamp with two-part epoxy - temperature might be a problem though, I'll see how it goes.
