S Club Heaven 2008 Update 5
Discussion
Well next week I'm at Le Mans which means the week after it's S Club 08 - not long to go now
Dave_M, Gozzy, Mycroft and Barkychoc & myself met up again on Thursday.
For those that do not yet know here are the main details of the event http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Don't forget that although SCH 2008 is on the Sunday it's a 2 day show and TVR's (regardless of which model) & drivers can get free access both days via the exhibitors entrance.
Here is the site plan showing the entrance, where we'll be etc....

61 names on the calendar now which is a great response
If you'd like to add your name to it here it is http://www.pistonheads.com/calendar/event.asp?i=34... This isn't a commitment to come but will help us to know how many cars to expect on the day.
The show organisers have asked everyone to be on site as early as possible so there are not too many cars moving around once the show is open. However I appreciate this may be difficult if you are making a long journey
The schedule for the day is (timings are flexible!):
09.30 Showground open
11.30-12.30 Karting
13.30 Voting for best in class ends
13.30-14.15 Scenic Drive
14.15-14.30 Noisiest V6 & V8 comp, best done with a warm engine
14.30-14.40 Prizes for best / noisiest awarded
14.40-15.00 Raffle draw
16.30 Showground closes
The only fixed bit of the above is the start time for the scenic drive - see below
Raffle
Here is the list of prizes....

And this is what we're doing it for....

In addition to a raffle prize The Polishing Company are also offering a half price offer on detailing a car...
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...
Go karts
Due to the numbers interested it is possible the karting will start before 11.30 - check with one of us on the day and we'll let you know the final arrangements. If you fancy a go you can add your name here.... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Scenic drive
Don't forget that any model of TVR attending on the day is welcome to join us on the run out.
The show organisers were delighted when I asked if it was ok for us to leave/return during the show. They will actually be announcing our run out on the PA during the weekend as an added attraction to visitors. It should be quite a sight and sound
Gozzy & Barkychoc have devised a great route - notes / maps etc will be available on the day.
T Shirts
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
These have been ordered and will be available for collection on the day. For those of you wondering, I haven't cashed the cheques yet because I was waiting for a couple of last minute ones to arrive. They'll all go to the bank tomorrow.
Although it's too late for the guaranteed order, if anyone else would like to order one please let us know by email or on the day. If there are sufficient numbers a follow up order might be possible.
Competitions
Don't forget you'll be able to vote on the day for what you think is the best car in the classes of S1 & 1.5, S2, S3 & 4 and V8S. There will also be a prize for the noisiest V6 and V8 plus one for the karting champ.
Accommodation
There are lots of hotels in the area as listed on the show website or you can camp on site http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
For those of you camping or staying in a local hotel, there is a licensed bar and a band playing on the Saturday evening from 7pm in the Cedric Ford building
We will be grateful for any offers of assistance to help us set up, arrange parking etc first thing on Sunday from anyone who is camping overnight on site and is not too hung over!
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

stand number one
But of course. Also, the organiser of the whole event was happy for us to go off on a hoon (for H&S reasons, car movement on site needs to be careful) and that seemed to determine we were far away from the entrance, meaning there will be a long, loud convoy of TVRs going through the site for the run

Great post Ian!
Yes a great post. I am sure you can count on me to assist on suday morning with the set-up hangover or not.
Are the organisers aware that a number of us will be arriving around midday on saturday... ? does that pose any H&S issues for them as it looks like we will be having to go to the opposite end of the site from the entrance ?
should be a few arrivng at once so its not like single cars moving through the crowds, or do we wait until there is a good size group and go through together?

Thanks for the offer of help on Sunday.
Re. Saturday, all the organisers have said is that they'd like to minimise the amount of traffic once the show is open. However it is accepted that people travelling some distance will not be arriving until after opening time (on either day). As long as everyone is aware of H&S issues, drives sensibly and is careful of pedestrians (especially kids) etc then everything will be ok

Spoke to shirt printers yesterday and the minimum follow up order is 12. If you're interested give me your details and I'll let you know if we get to the required number in due course http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I`ll be arriving with Trackcar sunday morning, what time does it open to joe public?
If you come with a TVR / kit car whatever else interesting you can get in the exhibitors entrance from 7.30, otherwise Joe Public entrance is admission from 9.30. Without a TVR you'll have to pay admission too.clive f said:

Clive, I wonder if you'll be our only "overseas" visitor this year...? Looking forward to seeing your Griff, assuming your coming in it. My ears are still ringing from your S so I can only wonder what the Griff sounds like
OK folks just a little bit of further information regarding the Scenic Drive on the Sunday.
Information from the kitcar show organisers is below.
The map also shows the location of the Go Karting track - a bit of a walk but after all that beer its just what you need!!
The camping location is also on the left hand side.
When your vehicles first arrive at the showground to get to your club stand they must enter at the Green Gate which is the gate all Kit Cars and Exhibitors use to get onto the showground. The drivers get free admission at this gate. The gate for the public is pedestrian access only.
For the cavalcade at 1.30pm on Sunday we will unlock the Blue Gate for you to exit the showground. The cavalcade can pass from your club stand passed the Exhibition Hall and then turn left out of the Blue Gate. There should be no cars on that roadway. At the end of that roadway we recommend the cars turn left so they do not need to cross over the road. This we feel is the safest way out of the showground and you should get less likely hood of being held up. Coming back onto the showground after the scenic tour all cars must come back through the Green Gate the Kit Cars and Exhibitors entrance. The Blue gate will be locked again. I have attached a map, the yellow arrows showing the route out of the showground through the Blue Gate. The red arrow shows where the Go Karting track is so that you can see where it is in relation to the showground.. Hope this is helpful
