Right, i know these pictures are obviously photoshopped onto the background, so there could possibly be a lot more chopping going on, but i still thought they were quite interesting.

The body mods look quite real, and they're probably a good representation of what the car will look like (apart from the spoiler, but you never know)

I think if it was in a different colour and it had different it wouldn't be too bad.

The front is OK, the rest looks bloody awful! The colour doesn't help but if it looks like that then it should fit in at Mc Donalds well...........

Based on peoples experiences with fuel consumption on the ST you should be lucky to get 20mpg out it... hehe

... and before some smartar*e quips in with "you don't buy an RS for the fuel consumption"... think of the RS as a modest mans performance car (which traditionally they always have been) and then stare long and hard at the cost of keeping one on the road at the prevailing fuel costs...

I don't know how stating a fact makes you a smartar*e, because it's true, you don't buy one for fuel consumption. If you were intesrested in fuel consumption, you wouldn't even be considering an RS.

nothing traditional about ASBO ORANGE mate I think FMC should go retro with its colours and gor for Ermine White, Signal Orange, Daytona Yellow, Silver Fox, Marine Blue, Solid Black, Venitian Red and Maize Yellow.

well thats my opinion think it would be awesome to see FMC revisit its old colour pallate

Why would you want the Asbo Orange on the new RS?????? Just a good way of people asking what your "ST" is like & if its an ST with an RS kit fittedwink

Hmm I see what your seeing but I'd still have one in asbo orange myself. Just seems so suited to fast focus's in my eyes but suppose you either love it or you hate it! Oh and I meant traditional asbo orange tongue in cheek seeing as its so associated with focus st's now I know its not a proper traditional colour.

It should be available only in white or blue.

Having read the technical data, I'm coming to the conclusion that Ford need to start pulling their socks up and catching up with the competition in engine tech. BMW and Porsche both make >300 BHP engines that slot into band "F" (the latter without the benefit of turbocharging).

I think he means for the German makes not the Ford RS? In which case i agree-over priced shat but with clean engines! I guess they have to pay for all that development somehow(people who buy them like to think they are much more expensive to actaully make and hence much better.............WRONG).

Yes, that's what I meant. Overpriced, yes. Shat? I don't think anyone could describe the Porsche flat-6 or the BMW twin turbo straight-6 as "shat" - they're damned good engines: powerful, clean and modern.

Ford need to keep up one way or another. They can't keep using that Volvo straight-5 forever - the new Mondeo and future Focus are going to need something better. Euro V will be coming in next year.

The fanboys can shout me down if they like. The reality is that without the necessary investment, Ford will struggle to produce anything of interest, let alone any new ST or RS models beyond 2010. It's possible; the Germans have proved it. A colossal manufacturer like Ford should be capable.

The fact that a new BMW X5 3.0 petrol chucks out less CO2 than my ST220 says it all...

ETA - it's the VED / tax implications that bother me...

Wasn't there some talk of a new breed of DI petrol turbo engines called 'eco-boost' or something? If so, that'd be your answer.

well they talk about it but as with Ford i think they won't be releasing anything 'soon', according to some blurb on on the internet Ford will be releasing DI turbo engines 2010.. by which time other car companies will have got something even better on the market!

the problem with ford (imho) is they aren't willing to take he first step in the market place, they would rather wait and see what others do first.. then bring out the same technology 3-5 years later..

Ford doesn't have any stop/start technology, and DI technology (mazda does..?!) currently on the market, even the diesels are getting old! the new 2.2 is actually not that good on co2! with the exception of the 1.6TDCI the restof the rnage of diesels isn't actually all that exciting.

with BMW creating 272bhp petrol engines with almost 40mpg combined FOrd is very far behind the times. disappointing really since the cars drive well but are let down by poor range of engines. i'm sure the new RS will be great around the track for a FWD car, but it will have poor Co2 and poor mpg unless they can pull some thing special out of the bag
