2001 Fiesta Zetec S eating oil!!

Are any other Zetec S owners experiencing loss of oil in car?

The oil is not leaking out of the car, I've been told by a couple of mechanics that the engine in the Zetec S is notorious for burning oil. I'm topping up my oil about twice a month!!!! My dad who used to work in Ford engine plant does not think that this is right!!!

up to 1 litre per 1000 miles is acceptable (and normal) for this engine.

thats what I heard too, mines not eaten much of the stuff though, only had to top it up once in the last 10,000 miles.

Yup they can go through a lot of oil. Becomes dangerous if it is left....bottom end failure.
