Hi all,

I've just bought my first ever TVR (a Griff 500) sourced by Rob Ingleby (great service!), tuned by David Batty (brilliant workmanship and very helpful), and just wanted to say that this has been one of the best 3 weeks of my motoring life.

I have now seen the light and how much fun is it to pull onto the motorway from a standing start and watch everything behind you disappear as you howl and wail with the roof down and the engine singing.....

I wanted one since '93 and now never ever want to sell the beauty. I'm based in Camden so would love to get involved in anthying based in the London area.

Magic!

Well done sir.

If you fancy a trip south of the water come & join the SE London & NW Kent TVRCC at one of our get togethers.

If you think its fun on your own, you should try going out with 10-20 TVR's in tow..record so far is 35, just how many stupid grins can you get on one road at the same time!

Get in touch via my profile if you would like to join us.

Please Please Please take it easy.

The number of "just picked up my TVR and now I've crashed it" is becoming a national tragedy.

We would all like you to enjoy it for a long time.

Have to echo Steve's comments above about taking it easy for the first few thousand miles. As an underwriter of a well known insurance company said to me a few years back, "75% of accidents involving TVRs where the TVR driver is to blame, happen in the first 3 months of ownership". That's why that particular company stopped taking on new TVR business.

I've had mine 4 months and have done 6k so just had my first service... but I'm still grinning like you, except for the servuce costs.

I'm not far from you so if you so drop me a line, as there are a few of us round here that regularly meet up to go to places together or just for a drive.

Remember not to get too fixated on the rear view mirror, you'll soon get used to seeing everyone else disppearing backwards in it!!

It's not just TVRs. I had a Cossie before the Chimaera, and called my insurers one year to query the cheapness of the insurance renewal. The underwriter said that 75% of Cossie claims are single vehicle accidents in the first year of ownership, usually by under-30s. Since none of those applied, my premium was dead low. (Oh, and the TVR was ~£370. Fully comp, protected NCB, 3000 miles, TVRCC trackdays included.)

Well,

I have tripped to Edinburgh, the Lakes in the last month; and am off to Rye this weekend... I can't wait for the weekends now..

It's great being part of the club. The pace is phenominal but comfortable too... next stop is a Cerby (but I don't know if I could ever live without the V8 howl)

You'll find the howling and wailing stops after a few months and settles down to a manic grin!

Bet your glad you didn't buy one of those hairdresser Chimp things!

Start going to the meets and get in a Convoy if you can, they're a bit fast sometimes but very enjoyable. I agree with the comment regarding the wet. Don't assume you know the car yet, especially in the wet.

FFS Gibber! calm down you've only just got the Griff

The Cerbera's are both awesome and gorgeous, I know, I want one so I can fit the nipper in the back

However, YES, you will miss the Rover V8 howl and burble and YES you will also miss the "top down giving it big licks and yelling your head off into the wind" kinda thing!
