I've just upgraded my Sat Nav software version and am wondering if the TMC will now work. I'l be driving from Warwick to Barnstaple later, down the M5, so it should be a good chance to test it out.

So firstly, what do I need to do to switch it on. (I think I've done this as TMC appears in the bottom of the display - does the text colour matter).

Secondly, how will I know if it is working?

Thanks,

Vlad.

TMC is a function of the map disc not the firmware version of the OS.

To enable TMC.

Go to the menu, then gps, then info, (or traffic info) then turn on RDS/TMC.

Then press the info button and turn on TMC there as well, then select Classic as the TMC station.

Green TMC logo = TMC enabled map disc and TMC enabled.
Red TMC logo = TMC enabled map disc but TMC disabled or not set to Classic FM.
Gray TMC logo = Not a TMC enabled map disc.

If its working the you will see traffic logos on screen when there are problems and the TMC list will have entries in it, with the one's closest to you shown at the top, its all in the Nav owners manual.

I think thats right

I've turn on TMC under the Navigation menu, but I don't have an info button.

I only have a MK 2 nav system, so that could be why.

The other thing to look for once TMC is on is the 'dynamic routing' option. This allows the system to re-route you round any hold ups.

Don't know if it's there on a Mk2 system.

It's not, but I've fixed it.

I drove home Friday night but didn't get any TMC information and there were plenty of problems so I should have done. According to the manual, the text appears at the bottom of the screen and is black when switched on but non-functioning, and then goes green when it receives info. This just didn't happen.

Additionally, the manual says that I don't need to tune to a particular station and that it find it automatically.

My Nav CD is 2004-1. Is this likely to be too old?
