Adobe file size increases when file is open and then closed!

We use these Adobe application forms at work with interactive fields. Now when we start with an empty form the fize size is 4mb - after filling it in it increases to say 8mb - this is acceptable BUT what i have just noticed is that if i open the empty application form - then save as and overwrite the saved form the size increased by 2mb without filling any anything!?

IT here are stumped and aint got a clue - anyone here know whats up?

Some form of versioning, so that the enduser can close the form, and re-open it later prior to actually clicking the submit button?

What software are you using to save it from - just a reader or something that you can create them with?

The form is an Adobe PDF with interactive fields (i.e drop down menu's, search facility etc). We enter user name, password then fill the form in, save it and submit online via an upload to a portal.

There's an option to embed any fonts used in a PDF so could be that.
