hi there how do i work out what time the exhaust valve opens before bdc cheers

use a dial gauge etc and measure it.


Or ask the cam maker

It's 4 oclock pm for a trabant and early morning for a vette.

A pair of dial guages.. !

One to measure true TDC (averaged from start to end .. about 10 degrees) then wind engine back until to see the exhaust valve is shut , open .. etc.

Highly unlikely. Would any normal mechanic ever need to know such information ?

No - just the cam wheel alignment wheel / method.
