Driving from the north east back to Worcester on Sunday night we had a slight accident.

As we were going along had seen a large patch of standing water and commented to the other half on it and backed off the throttle. As I backed off car went light and that was it.

We span 180 and ended up facing a lorry in lane one before it collected us and we effectivly started getting pushed along in a T-Bone fasion. Lorry grill pushing my drivers door.

We then got rolled over and as we went over the lorry went over the car and as we came from under the lorry we flipped over again.

My friend in the back seat crawled out through a back window, my fiancee and me crawled out through a door which was pried open by people that had stopped.

We all were mobile and generally ok. I have some cracked ribs from the inpact with the stearing wheel and roof pushing me down.
Fiancee came away the lightest with a scrapped shin and somewhat tender.
My friend came away with internal brusing and aching.

They rate RTA on a 1 - 10 scale and according to the fire brigade we were a "holy st, you 3 came out of that".

If we had been in the mrs's corsa we all feel the outcome would of been very different and I probably wouldn't be writing this.

Guess I'll have to start the fun process with this insurance and see how good they are.

Picture of the car at the recovery yard (engines intact, its just the rest of it is a bit shall we say damaged)

The photos give me the shivers.
(Been there and done that myself in horrid water conditions in a Monaro too.)

Thank goodness you are okay.

For a heavy car I was supprised at how badly the standing water affected it.

More pics can be found here : http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=132276&l...

We have been really lucky, car in all fairness held up well considering. The question is what do I replace it with. smile

Really glad you all are ok. Have to say that the Monaro's must be pretty damn tough, as it doesn't look too bad considering what happenned.

Makes me think its not necessarily worth trading down to a small car, just to save a bit on fuel costs...

Replace with a VXR8 Mate smile

I think braking would have thrown more weight on the front, but depending on the depth there probably wasnt much to do... Other than to have been going slower.

Ouch!! - very lucky to have come out of that with the injuries you got - especially with the level of intrusion.

I used to hate standing water in my VXR - used to go very skittish.

There is one part of the rear tyre which has VERY little tread left on it in one patch, I assume it must of been scrubbed away as we were pushed sideways.

I had a good look at it in the yard as I was somewhat shocked at it when i seen it. Rest of the tyre is fine full tread etc just that one patch.

I hit some standing water on the M11 over the winter. Did as 360 across 3 lanes + the hard sholder and only just caught it before the next 360. It was blind luck knowone hit me or I hit somthing (baring some cones on the hard sholder). I got away with needing a new bumper thankfully.

Looks like the 'Ro has done a good job of protecting you from the crash. Great to see you all have no major injuries.
