Noisy gearbox - VXR8

Hi all,

After barely 6500 miles the gearbox in my VXR8 has started making a rasping, whining noise in third and fourth, when I rev beyond 4000rpm and 3500rpm in respective gears.

Has anyone else encountered this? Does it mean the box is on its way out?

Mine was whining and took it to picadors who got Mr vauxhall involved, final result new gearbox, no whining now.
Shifts were also sloppy, now tight (could be due to built #1 press hack)

Just an update, in case anyone is interested or has similar problems: the whining noise was replicated in front of my local VXR8 engineer. He suspected a dry, loose bearing - but a subsequent examination has concluded that there is an 'internal fault' with the gearbox (shaft breaking up is the most likely cause) and a new box has been fitted. The old one is being sent back to Vauxhall's tech centre for examination, apparently...
