ST220 fuel gauge

I had my ST220 fuel pump replaced a few weeks ago, but shortly after getting the car back my fuel gauge stopped working.

Am I right in thinking that the fuel level sender is part of the fuel pump and that it would have been replaced with the pump? I don't want them shafting me for this work if they've fitted a dodgy part.
