Hi everybody

i own a mk4 golf and have at last got the money together to make the changes i want to make. One of the main changes i wanted was a smoothed rear bumper. ive put my car in at a bodyshop but the guy said that you cant jus smooth over the trim holes on the rear bumper. so now im stumped as to wat i can do? how does everyone with the euro look smoothed bumper create that look? he said if you fill over it then after a while it will just crack or even fall out! i really want the complete smoothed bumper. help would be greatly appreciated and as soon as possible because we came to the conclusion that it would be better to just colour code evrything but i would much rather the complete smoothed look.
i will post pics of it when the work is complete smile

What model do you have?

TBH Listen to the bodyshop! FFS don't ruin your car with the so call "euro" look.

Remember this advert! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gy20HpzruDo

Stick to OEM mods without making it something it isn't some of my counterparts on UK-MKIVS.NET may challenge these comments

you make a good point and i agree to a certain exctent about keeping everything OEM. although i think the "euro" smoothed look rear bumper is a quality change and doesnt make the car look like anything seen in that advert and i would never put any scoops or ridiculous huge bodykits on my car as so many people do, especially around where i live lol.
i have a 1.4 and as for turning it into something its not, believe me i wish i could own a 1.8T but insurance and running costs would be miles to high for me and with gordon browns proposed car taxes and petrol prices increasing every minute a 1.4 is a pretty sensible thing to own for now. so im just trying to make it look as nice as possible (from my perspective).
Thanks for your feedback mate beer

Your bodyshop guy is quite correct in that filled plastic will crack if it's allowed to move at all.

I don't know much about bodywork but I would take it to someone experienced in such things rather than an 'accident repair' outfit.

The bumper will have a degree of flex and whatever they fill the holes with will have a different degree of flex - so as soon as you use it, it will start to crack (maybe not visibly at first).

Can you buy a smooth bumper?
