Has anyone fitted diagonal seatbelts to the rear seats of an SL (R129)?

The rear seats in my 1997 SL320 (R129) currently have lap-belts but I want the added safety of diagonal ones. Can anyone recommend a place to do the conversion?

Quick Fit Safety Belt Service are recommended in the Merc Club. 0208 206 0101. I think they do this kind of work.

www.quickfitsbs.com but last time I looked the website did not work.

Hi Micky, I had my seatbelts fitted last Friday and I would definitely recommend Quickfit SBS. I dealt with Pawel who instantly knew the exact model of SL and reassured me that he had done many before, he even emailed the attached photos of a previous car they had done...

...I dropped the car off at 8.30am and got the underground (their premises are right next to Queensbury tube station) to Bond St station on the Jubilee line (£4) and did a bit of shopping on Oxford Street. Pawel rang me at about 12.30pm to say my car was ready. When I collected it I was extremely pleased with their professional job, they look like an original fitment by the Merc factory. The belts go under the roll-over bar, through a slot in the bulkhead and into the roof-stowage bay where they are bolted through to the wheelarch. Looking up into the wheelarch you can barely see where they have been re-sealed, it is immaculate. In total it was £331 which I think is fantastic value. The only downside was the slight colour difference to the front seatbelts (which are grey on mine) but it doesn't bother me. They even bagged-up my old lap-belts in case anyone wanted to revert it back to original.

To anyone considering it, I would say go for it, it makes it a lot safer for the kids and would make the car more saleable at a later date.

Fantasic Steg ; many thanks for getting back to me . I would imagine you`ll have added far more than £300 to the resale value having had this done .

regards , Micky
