New 4.6 V8 with about 1500 miles on it, 1 bar oil pressure when warm, regardless of rpm. A bit over 1.5 bar when cold. 20W50 oil. Seems healthy enough. Although it can vary, the general concenus seems to be 2 bar is more normal.

A. Oil pressure gauge under reading?
B. Soft oil pressure relief valve?
C. Leaky oil pickup pipe sucking in air?
D. Any suggestions?

Its a right pain to get to the oil pump area and so any advice, given the symptoms, would be appreichiated.

cheers

That all sounds very low, but how reliable is your oil pressure gauge? Unless you know for sure that it's accurate, I'd be more concerned with consistent oil pressure than with the absolute value.

I just checked it cold, and when looking at the gauge straight on its actually reading 2 bar... rolleyes

That probably means 1.5 when warm. A little less worrying!

The gauge is a middle of the range electric one.. I doubted the oil and water temperature gauges, checked them with a IR thermometer, and they were both bang on... Though, I guess pressure is a little harder to measure accurately using a mass produced uncalibrated sensor.

What does your gauge read hot and cold?
