As the title states
I am looking at an 04 Tdi 1.9 130 A4 that has covered 140,000 miles. Are these engines good for it or will i start having problems with turbo failures etc. The car has full vag history but do you guys have any personal experiences of these cars with high mileage.
Any help will be greatly received

I did exactly that, back in Sept. last year. 53-plate TDi, 140K, full history (first 3 done at Audi on AVS, rest done every 10K miles by TNT, who had leased the car from LeasePlan). Car now has 165K on the clock, runs perfectly. Only thing to go wrong was the wiper linkage (£63 for part), and the front suspension is - understandably - beginning to wear.

I have had 3 A4s all with over 100K. The wife has one of the old ones, a 2.0 petrol with 152K on the clock - this has had a few minor niggles like the engine speed sensor going, but they are generally very sound cars and I have a lot of confidence in them.

Buy on condition, not on mileage.

Let's put it this way... I bought mine with 140K and do around 30K per annum in it; I don't worry at all.

As long as it has been serviced regularly and properly (not necessarily by the snotty main dealers) then it will run for alot longer than 140k. My '04 Caddy with a 40bhp+ remap is now approaching 220k and thats basically the same 1.9TDI, treat it well and it will look after you

My 1.9tdi 130 is on 178k and going strong. It's never let me down (well except the compressor for the aircon has failed).

Totaly agree with all above. 8 years ago I bought a A4 1.8t sport with 120k on the clock, sold it 6 years ago with 140k and to this day it's still going strong. Tad bland to drive but thats another story.
All said one of the best cars i've owned

A friend has a 1998 A4 TDI 110 with 285,000 miles on it and it's sweet. And the fuel economy is fantastic... todays diesels struggle to match it.

at 140K i would suggest it is just about warmed up.
my a6 has just turned 120k and feels brand new.
I can't imagine selling it.

I sold a a6 130 tdi a few years ago with 120k on and took it back in px with 300,000 miles on, (guy does galactic motorway miles up and dowh the A1 every day) car was remapped at 120k when he got it , in that time the guy did a service every 20k and only other expenses was he fitted 3 timing belts and a clutch kit at 200k, I drove it for a week or so when I got it and it drove like a clock felt a bit tired on the steering but engine was smoke free and as dry as a nuns crotch. now ask the same question would I buy a 2.0 tdi vag with 140k and that would be a different answer yikes
