Mark 4 GTI values and buying guide?
Discussion
After some thinking I have decided to go for a Golf Mark 4 GTI. I have been looking though Piston heads and Auto trader and have seen that there are quite a number for sale. Are they selling at all well?
I will be looking at one soon and it is on the more expensive end of the scale as it has what I want spec wise.
Also does anyone know where a buyers guide might be found?

IIRC the mk4 gti came with either the 2.0 n/a lump giving about 115bhp or the 1.8 turbo giving 150bhp
I'm not totally convinced that the 2.0 deserves the GTI badge after a ride in a friends a while back
If it were me I'd go for the 1.8T as you can tune them, easily at a leter date if you want to or get one of the PD TDI's - either the 130 or 150

I'm not convinced the 1.8T deserves the GTi badge either, I've not really driven that much else in the same class but I find it soooo slow, but then my other point of reference for speed prodably doesn't helpPlan to get rid of my in the near future and oddly enough replace it with something older and probably even slower...but way cooler.
I'd probably value my 99 S Jazz Blue (by far the best colour) GTi with 109k miles and sitting on 18" RS4's at about £2.5k on a sunny day.
Theres a list of 'the usual problems' like MAF sensors, coil packs, rust behind the front wheel arches, door locks going haywire....for the most info the best place to look is...
