so after laverty had to turn down the second bike, birdy gets all nice and gives an oap a job (only joking chris)
so we will have a brit on a superbike at brands and the rest of the season.
wonder what the odds are on him being faster than haslam at donnington wsbk round??

my head says dont rule stalker out for a top 6 finish, he knows the pirelli's better than greg, knows the track better than most and he likes backing his bikes in to a corner, something the new blade seems to do even if you dont want it to........
and his times were from oulton were not too shabby either.....
no matter what happens, he will enjoy it, so will the crowd and mr j.palmer and msv will be loving the extra bums on seats this and karl harris will sell......

I'll be honest, with no Brits in WSB I really have lost interest this season - I recall the good old days of Foggy, Whitham etc when we had a good chance of podium finishes every week. Having a Brit (or 2) in the pack would really make a difference, I am shocked that the likes of Honda, Ducati, etc are not putting a little money in the pot to fund a top Brit to boost sales in the UK. Its amazing the talent we have in racers in this country yet recently have produced so few top flight riders in Moto GP and more recently in WSB. Even BSB is filling up with Japs, Italians etc. I only hope Toseland finds form as he started so well and I thought a podium was on the cards but since then he has just one into freefall.
At the very least we have some stunning kids in the 125's, only wish the TV would show more of it

Smashing bloke but he's had his day hasn't he.
Blade, come on mate, you can do better thsn that? With BSB going back to WSB/FIM engine rules we'll be more gauranteed wildcards next year if there are no teams steeping up.
Rumours still persist with HM Plant (any thing you know craig?) and GSE . . . Would be good to see them both there, but my. Major concern would be how much effect it may have on the BSB paddock losing its top 2 teams.
Walkers will have a good go, and you couldn't rule him out of top 8 finsh I reckon.
Harris is awesome ona supersport bike, but whether he can dial this one in quickly enough is to be seen.
Sykes will be there and I can see him making the podium if he gets on with the WSB engine configuration.

I'd like to see CW do well on the Blade (as he's got same initials as me )as he's had pretty rubbish ride on the ZX6R in WSS. I think he's deserved better & it was a shame that Suzuki ditched him from BSB squad when he'd led quite a few races. He probably had trouble setting the Gixxer up to suit him but he was quick at times. Look at even Tom Sykes results this year- it was only Oulton last w/end where he got a win- OK a double.
Maybe Stalker never really recovered from that orrible palsy thing he had. ( & losing BSB Championship at Donny years ago !)
You can be sure he'll still get big cheers from the crowd.

Better to be born lucky than fast it seems, Hodgson springs to mind.
So thats how he became BSB and WSB champion then!!??!! Why can't they ever log off!!!!
sorry, but he only won bsb cos walkers engine went bang, wsb, there was no one there to challenge him and he had THE best bike on THE best tyres
so yes, born slightly lucky methinks...
Hodgson was not a great racer, but he was world class.
Him and Walker set BSB alight that year, and fought tooth and nail at each round, the Ducati and Suzuki both scored and lost points across the season, you cant judge him based on one race alone.
Whoever won that year would have deserved it, through talent, skill, determination and sheer entertainment, it was a war between those 2, fairing bashing, knocking each other off, that was a classic season which defined both their careers.
I remember Hodgson dicing with Edwards and Bayliss on his GSE as a wildcard and winning on inferior machinery, with a few podiums thrown in, where did Walker come in, 5th?
Walker is talented, he had the opportunity to shine, but he failed miserably, he rode the Suzuki, the 500cc, the Kwak, GSE Ducati, Petronas, Suzuki again, then back to Kwak and Suzuki, and only 1 race win in 131 races to show for it.
Hogdson made decent career choices and went on to be moderately successful compared to Walker who was a complete flop.
Despite all that Walker had a far superior fanbase, as he rode a 4cyl 750 as opposed to the Ducati which alot of people at the time opposed, as it was considered a detuned 1000cc race bike.

..but maybe not with Shakey?? (replacement for Bayliss?)
I hope Shakey gets this ride, this could be his route back into Motogp if he impresses, would like to see him have another shot at the bigtime, I think he would easily outgun Toseland with his natural talent as britains best hope right now.castrolcraig said:

there is a lot of luck in all motorsport. It could have been quite easily Hodgsons engine go bang. They were running neck and neck all season. But these guys ARE fast. Look how many BSB boys have gone onto podium finishes as wild cards on the bigger platform of WSB.sorry, but he only won bsb cos walkers engine went bang, wsb, there was no one there to challenge him and he had THE best bike on THE best tyres

Every dog has his day. Hodgson moving to GP and then AMA was a bad move, but took the opportunity that every rider dreams of. Yes he may have had luck on his side, but some people make their own luck.
That aside, I hope CW has a second wind and finds the form he had in his early BSB days.

Hmmmnn, I don't understand how Hodgeson was "world class" when he "fought tooth and nail" with Walker who later "failed miserably" and was a "complete flop", a huge part of their respective success and or lack of it was down to equipment as was proven when hodgeson went stateside, personally I don't think there's much between them, maybe Hodgeson has been better advised and that can be what wins championships.
