hi all,
the time has come again to put some new boots on my car also the suspention is getting a bit tired so im thinking of upgrading, firstly i have been running contis for years but find they wear so rapidly so i thought id try michalins (any thoughts) secondly the ride seems to have become boaty so im in need of improving the handling (has anyone found any good combinations its mainly for fast road use and the occasional track day. also lastly any tips on improvingthe low end pick up, it pulls strong from 3k up but lacks a little under that. any suggestions would beraitly accepted. thanks

Whats the budget for your suspension upgrades, then I might be able to recommend something from there

Boots - Try Kuhmo Ecsta's. I found them to be v good compromise between grip and wear. And Not too bad on the pocket either.

Suspension - refresh all the bushes first. Then look at shocks / springs.

More grunt below 3k rpm - nothing unless you spend big $$ and really nothing noticeable without supercharging, despite what everyone will tell you about exhausts, intakes etc. All they do is make more noise on a normal car without spending huge $$ on lumpy cams and associated remaps.

I had very similar floaty handling on my EVO. It was sorted by Eibach Pro springs & Bilstein B6 dampers. ( and ARBs, bushes, X brace & alignment ) This setup is great for fast road work but is probably still too soft for serious track work. Adjustables / full coilover setup is the way to go if you have the budget.

This thread http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0... M3 EVO upgrades has loads of feedback on merits of various suspension upgrades and some other EVO upgrades. Hope it helps. Dave.
