Hood Leak Prevention...

I'm buying a Griff but unfortunately don't have a garage to park it in. I know I can seal the roof with Thompsons water seal, etc. but I'd like to stop the doors filling with water if it's outside in the rain for a decent amount of time.

My girlfriend had a small hood cap on her old MX-5 that kept all rain out - I've seen the Leven one for the Griff but it's 150 quid!!!

Has anyone used anything else for a secondary rain barrier in heavy weather??

Cling film has got to be the cheapest and you can keep it in your glovebox!

Nice one. Anyone tried anything more practical? Or does everyone here use the Leven gear???

My Griff had water ingress at some point, I think via the rear window. The rear carpets have to be replaced. If I were you, I'd get a proper cover. If you don't wanna pay £150, get one out of Argos or something - not as neat - but if it does the job... It's money well spent.

I've got a light weight waterproof cover. Does the trick, it was around 250 mark but worth it. I've heard some damage the paintwork at the seams as the cover moves in the wind but mine hasn't got any scuffs on it. The cats love it too, it's the chosen car in my road, if yer need to find yer cat, it's on me Griff. Personally I'd say fork out and get a decent one otherwise you'll be buying another one in a few months time. There's been a few threads on here where people have suggested other makes so have a quick browse.

I thought they all did this.

Mine is garaged over night but is parked outside all day, every day and I never had a problem with water in the doors.

They do let some water in but it drains straight out again at the bottom. I know this cause when cleaning I always have make sure all the water collected in the seals (top and bottom) drained away before polishing.
