What a crap day, had the day off today so was really looking forward to getting out on the bike, heading down towards Lakenheath this bloody bird came out of nowhere while I was doing about 80, hit the screen & bounced up and cut my neck open, rode back to Norwich with blood pi##ing over my leathers, dropped the bike off home and straight to A&E for stitches. Biking weekend is now screwed!!!
Ouch! Serious bad luck but I'm glad you kept it together and stayed on. I had a similar experience: hit a pheasant at about 80ish, feathers everywhere and managed to stay up. Only when I got home did I realise there was pheasant fricassee embedded in my radiator, coolant everywhere. Also on an R1 perhaps the birds recognise the most attractive bikes!
What is it with birds at the moment, Pigeons in particular they seem really dopey and just stand in the road not moving out the way?
Glad you're OK though could have been an 'off'.
My biking weekend's over because my bike blew a head gasket on wednesday, I'm in the process of rebuilding it but it's going slow.

Glad your're ok, well relatively speaking but the bike looks not so good. Hope it was just the screen.
I had a pigeon hit me square in the face when I was riding at 40mph about 25 years ago and it scares me just to remember it. The bird got trapped in the visor and was flapping like crazy, I lost control of the bike, as I couldn't see anything, mounted the curb and hit a cyclist who was cycling towards me on the pavement
She shouldn't have been there, she should have been on the bloody road but damage was not so bad as I braked almost flat out when the bird hit me and she said I was doing about 10mph (how did she know?) when I collided with her. I remember her ringing her bicyle bell before I hit her
When I finally fell off the poor bird was flapping like it was possessed and I undid the straps and threw the lid on the floor. No sooner had I done that, I had some old biddy launch into an attack about harming the bird even though it nearly killed me

Could have been much worse for you considering the speed.
I have had a bird glance of my shoulder, resulting in a nice bruise
Though on of my mates decapitated a bird with his chain (lot of feathers!), and hit a kangaroo at 70mph, in Oz before you ask. That made a mess of his YRF-600, but he managed to keep it upright, and ride it 400km to Adelaide.
