Time to decide

Looking for peoples thoughts here.
I own a decent car (VX220), love driving it and had the pleasure of doing 3000 miles around Europe in it (inc few laps around the Ring). I had a Sv650s for over a year and sold it last October (working away from home, it got no use), after doing 10k on it loved every mile rain or shine.
Since then I've hankered after another bike, but new house purchase and all has put that on the back burner. However I'm now a home worker, so plently of time on my hands to go out and play (cough. during lunch.. honest sir)
My thoughts with the current cost of fuel, insurance and tax is too sell the car and just own a bike as think I'd use a bike more than the car (plus the GF has just moved in and we use her car alot now). Course I'd like to own both, but just cannot justify owning a softtop car and a bike when the sun comes out!
So, have any of you ditched the car for the the two wheeled transport? Does the cost of running a bike work out cheaper than running a car..?
OR have I just answered my own daemons and already made my mind up to buy a bike and bin the car??!!

If it makes you feel any better, I ditched a 340R for a GSX-R. Best move I ever made
And I sold my Lotus Elise Sport 160 to get into biking - my first bike is a Honda CB600F Hornet. Prior to that I had two Caterhams. The bike is great fun. The fact you're contemplating it is enough, just do it.
