Picked up my spyder today from the garage - just been fully serviced and a few problems fixed, like loose pipes etc..

Now i'm having the same issue as before with the oil pressure.

At Startup the oil pressure goes up to about 4 bar on the gauge and continues to stay at about 3-4bar. however, as soon as the engine is warm, and i come up to say some traffic lights and idle, the oil pressure drops to just under 1 bar. The slightest of revs pushes it back to 3 bar'ish.

The local garage said it's nothing to worry about, as he said the oil pump will slow down when i'm idling.

Does this sound normal?

I found out today as well - that there is no "empty" warning light on the fuel gauge. I conked out on the A12, and had to go for a walk to get some fuel. Made me chuckle, as i've not done that before and i never leave the tanks with less than a 1/4 in them - it's just the garage hadn't put any fuel in.

Last other question - whats the normal operating temp of the engine? Mine crept up to just over 80 on the gauge in traffic before i put on the electric pump and the fan's, and i started to panic. But it didn't go past 85-90.

I think i panic too much, and should just go out and enjoy it....

Thanks

Craig.

If I remember correctly, my oil is around the mid 90's when cold and mid 80's psi when hot and drops to around 55ish on idle. That's from memory.
Water is around the same as yours, I have fitted an adjustable thermostat switch on the rad, fans cut in around 85C but in traffic it does tend to creep up to 90ish
As for fuel I fitted an SPA programable fuel gauge as my digital dash didn't support odd shape tanks, but ETB have said that if I give them the fuel fill readings they will amend the software, so that gauge could be going cheap soon.

graham thats 6 bar when cold i would say that is a little too high?? i would say the pressure relief valve wants tweaking.

scooby i dont think you have anything to worry about as long as you get 3-4 bar when cruising thats great, as for the water temp if stays under 100 degrees that to is great!

Your hot idle pressure should be OK particularly if to idle speed is low.
The oil pressure switch in your tintop is probably about 0.2bar.

All sounds fine to me - could be your tickover is a bit low (less than 800rpm) and thats why the oil pressure is a bit low, - my temp gets up to 100 in heavy traffic and hot (last weekend) so thats fine as well. The fuel gauge empty warning is when the little needle sits on zero! (tee hee... sorry!)

;-)

I new that was coming....

Right, i'm out for another cruise, now i know you don't need to have the heater on to get rid of some of that heat ;-)

idle, the car sit's about 725-750.

Noticed the car's a little lumpy/hesitant when you try to accelerate lightly from say 50+ but i imagine it just needs a quick tune. Goes like a rocket still, so i love it :-)

I'd agree, it all looks fine to me too. You might want to turn up the tickover a little is all but I wouldn't worry too much.
