Hello chaps,

Been lurking around for a while and searched this forum to death I reckon. Currently looking at 3 options for a weekend toy after the demise of my Elise -

Exige (s1 or s2 depending on whether I want to swap the motor),

Ultima (been out for Ted's scare drive - loved it)

or an M12.

There certainly is loads of stuff on here but a visit to a dealer yesterday (same one as 'credit crunch' thread in fact) and a couple of threads on here made me question specs of early 3Rs. Please feel free to correct me ( I'm sure you will - you don't seem shy..)

It seems that early 3Rs had 5 speed boxes but did these have LSD or was an LSD only standard with the 6 speed box ( I suspect the latter)? Also were all the other 'R' tweaks standard from the off ( lights, wheels, leather etc)

The reason I ask is that I reckon some cars advertised as 3Rs are in fact 3s but it seems I can't rely on the 6 speeder as a differentiator so any tips would be most welcome.

Currently looking like I'm going for the Noble but just need a bit more knowledge.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Jim

Main changes from 3 to 3R...
1) different wheels
2) faired in Headlights
3) More sound proofing
4) Interior changes(padded top on tunnel, Pads on top of dash, steering wheel.)

Drivetrain is the same the first 3R's cam with a 5 speed, with 6 speed as option ( all 6 speeds had lsd)
Lsd was also an option on 5 speed.

TBH, some 3's have had all this done ( My 3 is now better speced than 3R)
But not that many, V5 will have the model on it.

HTH

yep same as alex said - some have the 5 speed box fitted

i wanted a 3r but ended up with a 6 speed GT03, with m400 suspension, track day sump and upgraded intercooler, it has less sound proofing but its lighter too !

be warned the later lights hold water and get misted up

if you are going to do some track days consider a track day sump and harder suspension to stop the wheel hitting the clam
