Filling up at a petrol station - lost it - with a twist

As we're all talking about petrol stations I thought I'd share what happened the other day to see if I was in the wrong.

To cut a long story short I'd filled up my bike as I normally do, while sitting on it next to the pump. The pump was to the left so when I got off the bike and put it on it's side stand it lent it quite close to the fillers.

As I was riding with a mate I had my helmet and gloves off for a change. We walked into pay and stood in the queue. As we were doing so an old beaten up taxi pulled up next to my bike and the drive got out. I watched this closely.

At first he went round the front of the car and started checking his water / oil, "phew" I thought, he's not going to be stupid. Next thing I know he's opening his filler cap (about 2 foot away from my bike) and looking to reach OVER my bike to get the pump.

I'm normally a very passive person but in this instance I saw red. I stomped out (all 6'5" of me in kit) and started shouting "Oi, what the fk are you doing mate, my bikes fking there", as I got to him he just stared at me blankly so I went on "how the fk do you think you're going to get the petrol pump to your car without dragging the hose over my bike?" he started to say "I won't touch it, watch" to which I interrupted "don't you fking dare, look petrol pump, bike, car, you're going to scratch it. Look, I'll roll the bike forward, next time don't be so fking impatient."

After I rolled the bike forward I walked back to the shop to pay and a woman correctly pointed out to me that there was in fact a spare pump next to her and had been all along...

Anyway, I feel quite bad for being so abusive, especially with my size I can imagine he was quite intimidated (rabbit in headlight eyes at one point), would everyone else have reacted the same?

I think I would have inserted the petrol hose up his nose and given him a quick nasal "douche" - once I had moved my bike out the way of any splashes, mind!

I'd probably done the same thing, although perhaps without quite so much use of the word fk lol.

Taxi drivers are supposed to be professional drivers, but often they can be some of the worst on the roads.

People are just bloody impatient! A stooopid woman did it to me the other day, both in cages, I'd used pay at pump, she decided to squeeze between the 2 cars, while I was trying to get into mine! I just shook my head at her!
I hate filling up at Tesco here, the morons all sit at the entrance to the station which causes a back up round the round about all the way back through town.

I short, you were right to have a go at him for being a prat.

Still I wasn’t there. Some taxi drivers tried to run me off the road last week on the bike I hired several times. So I’m not impressed with them.

I would of gone out and gone "Excuse me, but do you mind either using a different pump, or waiting for me to wheel my bike out of the way of the pump?" Rather then F'ing and blinding. Bit excessive, no?

That's usually down to the dense wassocks who HAVE to wait for a pump to be free that matches the side their filler cap is on. Numbnuts. I usually drive past (in car) & grab any pump. Often-but not always- they seem to be the girlies- Sorry Rach...

Were you there with the OP..........no I didn't think so.....you obvoiusly don't have much contact with taxi drivers, who through the majority are complete ts.....don't prejudge a situation or the OP if you weren't witness to the situation!

I'd have nutted you right on the nose, then a swift knee to the groin. Then a ferocious upper cut (south paw - unexpected) to the chin, then ...Oh, hang on. Sorry...... Erm, I'd like to think I'd have done the same, but probably wouldn't have said anything unless contact had already been made. Don't really like to row like that given that I'm 5.10 and 12 stone.... however, had contact with my bike been made, I'd have flared up like a pack of the old farmers, and he'd be paying for it.

The use of language was a bit excessive but as I said, I saw red when I imagined a dirty gritty rubber hose being dragged over the lovely shiny yellow bodywork. I've pulled one of those hoses around the back of my 350z trying not to hit it and they're heavy and fairly well sprung so if he'd tried that he'd have probably knocked the bike forward off it's side stand as soon as he took his foot off the hose.

The spare pump was actually the same sided as the one my bike was on.

It's true! (most) Other women drivers are embarrassing, oh and old people do it too, grrrrr old people!

I'd have gone spare aswell. Probably nutted him to teach him a lesson if he touched my bike. Agree why people can't be more patient, that's why I tend to only visit the pumps when it's quiet during off peak times.
