I have recently noticed that when cruising along on the motorways at 80 or more (abroad of course) that I have a vibration.
It starts at the accelerator pedal, goes to the steering and then feel it through the seat. It seems to be about twice every 100m or so and can be quite pronounced depending on speed, etc.
Anybody shed any light on this. The car has some work done on it recently and I'm a bit concerned that something hasn't been lined up properly when put back together.

Someone has posted something similar to this before I think, I think it was put down to the inbalance in the discs occasionaly lining up or summit? Can be no further help than that but get your tyres checked anyway cos my last set failed, I stuck to legal speeds luckily, When they showed me the tyre all of the belts had failed and at 70ish it would go out of round, dread to think what would have happend at 170.

Interesting.... it had new tyres recently also so now I'm wondering if they weren't balanced properly or if there is something else wrong with them.

I had a similar problem. The rear wheel had thrown a weight. Another possiblity is to do with the balancing of the prop shaft (I think)

Sounds like that's the problem. Even a slight change in balance can produce a vibration at speed, but is not noticed a slower speeds.

Although it's not the road is it? Some do produce odd vibrations if you drive over them at the right speed, quality of our construction you see

It sounds like a different sort of vibration, but I recently had, what felt like, unbalanced wheels. After a balance and 4 wheel alignment it didn't make any difference. In the end we discovered that both the rear wheels were bent!

Car was fine before but went in for a slave cylinder seal replacement which meant bellhousing off and gearbox disconnected i believe. then a new set of tyres.
Since then I have done 1500 miles through france in the last ten days and even though the vibration may be there it is only noticable from around 75 upwards.

my thoughts were that something wasn't lined up properly when they reconnected the gearbox/bellhousing. didn't think about the tyres.
it is definately weird as it can be felt progressing through the accelerator pedal then steering wheel then seat and probably back seat if i could squeeze myself in there and drive at the same time!!!!
