Hi all, as i've just snapped the cambelt on my 1.2 fiesta for the second time i want to put a different engine in if im going to go through the hassell of it all again

would anybody on here know what parts have to be changed as i've heard that the sump and a couple of the manifolds might have to change aswell as other things, if anyone knows or might know of someone who does would be a great help as I need to get back on the road!

There is a standard answer to the question of "I want to put a different engine in my car, what should I do with the <xxx>".

Answer: Sell it. Buy one with the engine you wanted.

Faster, cheaper, more reliable in the long run, and won't cause nightmares with insurance. Unless you are doing something like putting a Rover V8 in it, it just isn't worth the hassle.

A standard question of "can I put a V8 in my xxx" would usually get the answer of selling it and buying something else, but there is sometimes a good reason for swapping engines.

If the mount points are the same (and I'm not sure they are) might be worth looking at an 1800 Zetec. You'll need lots of other stuff as well, gearbox, loom, ECU etc and a key that needs to be in the car somewhere. Escort/Mondeo Zetecs are kicking around for little money at the moment.

Failing that, another 1.25 as you're already kitted out for it

Rough guess at the labour would be about £500, double if you go to Ford
