Lovely car mate. And I am a fan of the red. Is it strill called Imola Red on the E92's?

DId u test drive a 997 C2S before getting the M3? What did u think. Good choice anyway, dont think u can go wrong with an M3

Thanks, i'm also really pleased with the colour. Its called Melbourne Red.

I did indeed drive a 997 C2S, the car didn't feel as quick as the M3(in a straight line). It did however have better brakes and seemed a little more planted to the road. The porsche lacked the practicality of the M3.

It was a close call but the added spec/gadgets in the M3 also helped me make my mind up.

The soundtrack lower down the rev range in the M3 lacks soul, a little too muted.

It looks lovely in Melbourne Red. How have you found the paint finish? I went to look at one last month in (Interlagos?) Blue and the paint was quite 'orange peely', unfortunately it put me off the car a wee bit.

Nice choice of motor though, I hope you get many miles of enjoyment out of it!

Thanks guys.

I've actually had the car now for about 2 months. I went for the manual as that's always been my preferred gearbox.

Never really thought about the backdrop/location of the pics, they are just pictures of a car after all.

The paintwork does suffer from orange peel but not as much as some I've seen. There is no excuse for this lack of quality.

It still really bugs me how there seems to be soooo many topics on here about the M3 and the pitfalls of deprication(so tired of reading them). I browsed through the Merc forum before and noticed those who have bought the C63 AMG are all just concerned about discussing how good the car is even though it will suffer much the same rate of deprication. There seems to be a stark difference between the two forums.

If I had the choice between a C63 AMG and an E92 M3 it would be no contest.

Good choice with the red, it looks fantastic smile

Gotta love those wheels -- reckon they fit a Z4?

Ah, but has anyone actually sold a C63 and crystallised that depreciation yet? I suspect the moans will follow when it's been on sale for about a year, like they did for the E92.

Personally I think I'd whinge a lot more if I'd lost £20k+ in a year. I don't think schoolchildren come on here to troll by talking about second hand values laugh

Tell me about it! I got one of the first cars and posted on here about it - thought people would be interested in it and have questions about it. I'd say 90% of posts were about depreciation, how much I was going to loose, how clever they were going to be by buying second hand in six months time for 50pence, blah, blah, blah. Very little interest in handling, brakes etc etc. Got fairly cheesed off in the end tbo. As sqbm says rarely any details on their own profiles strangely. Enjoy an awesome car! smile

I know it's terrible but I don't remember exactly! Between 5/6000 miles I think. I DO remember thinking that it became noticeably 'looser' a couple of weeks before it went - which ties in with what you're saying. Wonderful car - didn't immediately grab me but really grew on me. It was just so GOOD at everything you want a car to do.

I disagree with you there, I think the wheels are the one thing that let the E46 and E9x M3's down. Why stick with the original design? The CSL wheels (whilst played out in the replica market) are much better imho. Is this the only M BMW have done where they have kept the previous incarnation's wheels?

The M3 wheels will not fit a Z4 IIRC - they are in the same offsett range as the E46 non-M's and the 1 series I believe. You can of course go for spacers, but I've seen some US Z4's with M3 wheels and they look rubbish imo. Replica CSL's in the appropriate offsets are a different matter however - stunning. yum

They aren't the same - not a particulary radical departure though!
