Thinking of getting one of these from a mate for my first bike.... he's done plenty to it so the upkeep shouldnt be a problem for a ten year old bike and the price should be competeitive scratchchin. Thinking a cheap bike would be handy for a few years practice, so I'm not gutted when I drop/scratch it :boxedin.

Any thoughts or experiances of these bikes?.

Bought a lid, so I'm off to get some leathers woohoo

My opinion would be never ever call a Kwaka a Kazza.

You will be laughed at, slated, riduculed, called gay, etc....

Other than that, they're a lovely bike, but a bit heavy on the wrists.

Insurance could be quite high if you are young.

zx7r is a very nice looking bike in my opinion, others think otherwise, a tad heavy compared to more modern machinery, but id have one anyday, im going to look at an r6 tommorow, gonna try get finance on a 2000 bike, at my local dealer.

Got my re-test on saturday also.

I owned one from new several years a go and loved it. I still think it's a lovely looking bike and I liked it's solid feeling. I only had two complaints -

1. Carb Icing - I've heard there's a cure for this.

2. Old fuel blocking the jets - I wasn't using it often enough and modern fuel goes a bit lumpy blocking the carb jets. My other bike was fuel injected and never suffered from this.

So go for it!

I had one for a couple of years. Great bike. Handle well, fast enough and brakes are ok though need regular attention to keep them working well. Re carb icing: Pro FST sorts it.

always had a big soft spot for 7R's, one of my all time favourites. Still got a hankering for one but having had much better machines I think it's now too late and a case of not wanting to meet your heroes.

Still one of the best looking front ends of all time, never was keen on the bikes with purple wheels / tails but that's subjective. To ride, only ridden one once, compared to modern machines it feels a bit heavy and clunky, but the front end is still a peach, really lets you know what's going on. Very planted bikes too thanks to them being a bit meaty and having a fairly hefty back tire, seem to remember them being a bit slow to tip into turns too, but nice handling.

Quite a while since I rode one so by no means an expert, lovely bikes though. Insurance is pretty cheap on them for me at least, not much more than a similarly aged 600cc

Silkolene Pro FST is a fuel additive that helps with cold starts and carb icing etc. http://www.thefastone.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=54...

Pro FST has been sufficiently covered. Re Brakes, the 6 pot Tokicos have a tendency to seize up if you ride through winter; I had mine for two years and had to have them serviced twice in that time, despite hosing them with water after every winter ride. Still, a great bike, congrats. I still quite fancy one despite now owning an R1.
