They won't and they shouldn't, if you;re serious then you need to get some custom ones sorted and welded in properly

I'm not sure TaffyRacer was meaning to be condescending, and I don't think he was anyway.

If you're going to get an instructor to sit in the car with you, then I'm sure he'll tell you to FRO if the seat looks like it's been stuck on with gaffer tape.

It's not the whole seat that needs to be welded in, just some custom-made mounts/bases for whatever type of seat you're looking at. Alternatively you could just go to the breakers and find a normal e30 seat, rails, etc.

There is a guy on E30Zone who sells brackets that fit the E30 floor mounting point for fitting race seats.....

He's just sold the last set of his current batch so it'll be 6 months or so before any more are available. I know of other ways to mount seats easily into an E30 but seeing as the OP was so fking rude to Dom i don't really see any reason why i should help him in the slightest.

If you look in the most basic of places then you'll find just what you need.

Fair enough, I guess I was being a bit lazy to ask here. I'll do some digging.

Sorry to the other lads earlier but I've had a crap day and just got annoyed when the advice given just wasn't relevant. Bolt-in side mounts are pretty common after all, yet it appeared I was mental for even thinking of fitting them to my car.

What he meant is that universal side mounts won't fit an E30. Hence you need to weld in your own mounting bolts.

Cobra do side and base mounts for the E30. These fit the Evolution S (side mounts-as most of us use in PBMW) and Monaco (base mounts-as most of us used to use before we mandated eared seats). You will need to tell them they are for nearside fitting as although the offside mounts do fit on nearside, its not a great fit. Both use standard BMW seat fixing bolt holes

Out of interest, which car have you bought ? Don't forget to send me a registration and entry form if you want to get it out for SPA (details on the PBMW Website & forums)

Maldini - Tony always had his cars built to a high spec money no object approach. I raced against that car this year at Brands and it was well set up but engine problems curtailed his racing on the day. If its a fresh engine then should be competitive - Tony always was around the top 10...

Anyway come along to our next race at Silverstone if you can make it and Spa IS going to be awesome

OMP do conversion brackets that supposedly fit the E30 and E36, the allow fitment of standard side mounts. I bought a set for my E36 but they made the seat base too high for my liking (but I'm 6ft 2in so need it as low as possible). I just bought some 6mm thick aluminium angle and made my own conversion brackets up, bolts right in so easily removable if you need to later.

Yawn - another typically unhelpful and patronizing response.
You didn't even read my question properly.

I want to fit a PASSENGER seat for some tuition. I want it to be easy to remove when I go racing. I clearly don't want to be welding anything.

Sorry if this seems overly critical as I'm sure you meant well but I hate being treated like a moron.
Mate, don't appreciate your totally crap and uneccessary response, i was not trying to be patronizing in any shape or form i was actually being quite serious and certainly not treating you like a moron, you clearly don't understand the basics

Fair enough.

I have apologised and I agree it was unecessary and I shouldn't have sent it.

However, if you re-read the tone of your very short, curt response you might see how it could be interpreted as patronizing.

Let's just leave it there, no point getting wound up over it any further.
