My so-called mate only just text me to say he's not coming to Knockhill tomo after buying a new laptop today. I've paid for his and my ticket, hotel booked tonight although I won't loose anything if I cancel before 1pm tomo. I know a few of the club are riding down on Sunday but they're taking the back roads and I'm SO slow on the twisty single track roads and get really frustrated.
What do I do?
Go on Sat anyway, meet a mate and his wife and kids, stay in a hotel on my tod, also car or bike? Not that confident finding somewhere new, on my own, on the bike.
Go Sunday main roads and meet club there?
Go somewhere else for the weekend because I'm totally pissed off with being dicked about by people?

Go on Saturday, enjoy the practise on the twisties (without letting anyone else dictate your pace), shine and sparkle when you're there (now you've done your nails), pull, get VIP entry to Knockhill, and tell the numpty they still owe you for half the room, as it was a non-refundable Web Price.

Yeah, it's a little bit of a trek for me from Hampshire too.
But go ahead, If other friends are going, pop down & enjoy yourself. As for your "friend".....I'd be kicking the crap out of him for buying a ticket specifically for him & then having him say thanks but no thanks. Funk that! Lesson learned: get money, THEN buy tickets.
Oh, & make sure you go at your own pace. I've had one or two near misses myself as I followed a more talented rider (I don't happen across them too often obviously!). You'd be surprised how easy it is to get sucked into a corner & realise the terrain outweighs your talent AND/OR ambition!
what an eloquent post for a VERY drunken 12:39 sat morning!
