Noisy suspension on X5

[Speed addicted]

My 2001 X5 D has started to make slight clonking noises from ( I think) the rear suspension on things like speed bumps , there have also been a couple of noises straight after driving while the car appears to be settling.

Any ideas what the problem could be?
It's got about 80K miles on it and is driving normally.
