Umbria - Citta della Pieva

Hi,
As part of our Great European Tour Honeymoon we are having 7 nights in a villa in Citta della Pieva. We arrive on the 30th September. I'm not sure which way we will be driving down, as we will want to have at least two destinations on the way there. Any must-dos or must don'ts when I'm planning the journey? Shall I just head straight down the Autostrada or is it worth seeking out more scenic routes?
I've got the standard issue Lonely Planet book to give us an idea of what to see and do but thought there may be some Italian PHers who could help. We like visiting beautiful towns and villages, eating out and drinking wine.
I am usually allowed to visit one car related attraction per week away, is there anything worth a look? Shouldbe able to get in the Porsche museum the week before.
