Has anyone in the know at TVR thought about fitting a hard top to the Chim?? They can transform the look of the car.. especially for the winter!! E.g.. Z3, MX-5!!

Having to remove the wheels for the luxury of a hard top is too much of a sacrifice for me.

yeah, both the mx and the beemer look pretty good with their lids on, don't they?

i guess if you had a roll-over bar/hoop fitted ( to clamp it to ) then it wouldn't be too bad a job to get someone who makes stuff in carbon fibre to knock one up for you. you could get it to seat down on the boot hinge center bit thingy, and fit straight into the header, but really, you have a hard panel in the top anyhow, is it really worth it?

iknowiknow - winter approaches!

Would there be much point? The hood does not leak and no matter how cold it gets you are never going to get cold in there.

I think it's a style thing.

Yes it does make the chimaera look like a 2 seater cerbera

boxsters look quite good with hardtops on, too!

Been here. Did NOT get the t-shirt

Spoke to TVR Malaysia who seem to be the only ones with the moulds for it due to the racing they do.

Initially they were very positive and helpfull but they told me that when they looked at the trading contract with TVR UK, they are not allowed to import parts into the UK - the roof is classed as a spare part.

So - down to us agian!

Can't someone else import them? I.e. buy them from TVR Malaysia and import via a 3rd party? I'm sure there can't be something about selling parts and the new owner then importing them

Just an idea

I have seen the Malaysian hardtop on a visit to the factory and it is very basic. I think it was developed as a requirement for them to race their cars.

Whilst it could be the basis of a hardtop for wider use, it would certainly need more work. The one I saw has a worse fit/seal than any soft top I have seen.

I would consider fitting a hardtop to my Griff to try and keep the interior cooler. I live in Thailand and there is only about four weeks a year when it is cool enough to comfortably drive without the roof. I also constantly struggle to maintain a decent seal between windows and targa with the soft top.
