As title really - I've seen it alluded to on forums before, but wanted to get the PH view. Do e46s have the same propensity to require new wheel-sensors that e39s do? I had a 1999 535 that had two failures in the year that I owned it (not to mention a wiring loom problem, but that's another story).

I'm just sussing out whether the time is right to upgrade to a 330 and whether an e46 is likely to be as reliable as my e36 (which so far has needed a just wiper-blade since November).

Cheers.

No problems so far with either of mine.

Just replaced an ABS sensor on mine, £40 diagnostic, £60 part, and about £50 labour, all plus VAT. They do seem to go.

Had three e46s over a five and half year period and no failures of wheel sensors.

I've had several E46's and my current is the first time I've had any problems. Turns out this was caused my a slightly buckled wheel which I'm told is common on the M3 alloys..

Never had any problems with mine and never heard of it being a particular issue on the E46.
