Can Green Belt land be utilised for anything? My family a small plot located in the center of a town half of the land is green belt and half industrial. Im not exactly sure of the size that is green belt maybe ½ mile squared.

Thanks for any help.

No, is the easy answer. It seems a bit odd though that you have a plot of land that is half designated as greenbelt and half industrial within a town though.

What are you wanting to do with it?

You'd need to take good advice on this to avoid wasting time and money. There has to be 'very special circumstances' to justify deviation from green belt planning restrictions. You may or may not have those circumstances. We can't possible tell here.

For such a decent sized chunk of land the potential benefits may outweigh the costs and uncertainty of getting into costly investigations on this.

What is not clear from you post is whether the industrial usage is on green belt land or whether that plot is not green belt bordering green belt. Doesn't matter much though because the above info still applies.

Ok thanks very much for all your help. I’m not exactly sure for the technical term for what the other half of the land is classed as, I assumed it was industrial as it a breakers yard (Auto Salvage) and has been for quite a number of years, I also think it is now classed as contaminated due to this (oil ect now in the ground).
As for what I wanted to do with the green belt half of it I’m not too sure just thought I might be able to utilise it in some way to my advantage is has also been there for quite a number of years doing absolutely nothing with nothing on it.

I have put in a picture below of the land, basically all the land from the right of the train track and below the houses and the road is ours. You can see what is the car yard (with the unit in the middle) and then literally all the green is green belt.

Sorry I’m being an amateur, how do you upload a picture I can’t copy and paste in to the reply box?
