I've picked up three new stromberg carbs, but I don't know what they're off.

Can anyone help?

002 4022 (x2)

& 906 4025

If I'm right the first three numbers are the marque and the other numbers are something to do with the variant?

There were other numbers / letters stamped elsewhere, but I think these are the key?

Photo of the carbs.

I bought them with the idea of taking them apart to understand how they work.

But they're too good for my sausage like fingers to wreck.

If I can find out what they're off I'll put them back on e-bay with a better description.

Yup the bog standard stromberg version of the su 1.5" carb. They were fitted to a variety of cars, including a lot of yank exports.

One place to check is what the model of carb was that was fitted to the lotus elan with the stromberg head, with the fact they are new even though that engine is unpopular compared to the weber head they should sell for good money.

FWIW you wouldn't learn much by taking them apart.

From the outside they're pretty much the same as the stroms on my GT6, which is why I wanted them.

There is some info on US carb identification here -

http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/Carburetor_ID.htm

Just thought somebody on here might know what the code means.

Oh well.

What does the writing around the suction chamber say?

175CD2 is the important bit on this one.

That's the basic model of the carb, apart from that the differences are in the "bits wot you change when you set them up", the needle, the spring and stuff.

My money is on 150, working on the theory 175 is 1.75", those have the 1.5" flange wink
