I've become a man!

Thanks for all the congrats - feel like I'm on top of the world at the moment!! Next issue is the bike.... Not looking for anything fancy as a 30 mile round trip commute 50 weeks of the year (ride unless its snowing!) which ever bike i get is going to take a bit of a bashing.
The shortlist on a budget of upto £1500 is ZZR600, Thundercat, Fazer, maybe CBR600 if i can find a decent one for the money.

I just bought a 1999 CBR600F4 (ally frame) for £1700 and even though it's high mileage (I'll be rolling it past the 60,000 mile mark) it has a service history, 4 owners, one of which did all the miles and all the bills. Scottoiler fitted, engine starts on the button and idles smooth as silk, revs up to 13k with ease (well run in!) and appears to ride just *fine*
Of course, it's my first 'sports' bike so I wouldn't be able to tell if it handled like a boat relatively speaking to other 600s, or whether it's quick or not (though I've owned some pretty fast 4 wheeled machinery and this bike would have everything up to 100 including the Noble and the VXT with trick tyres and turbo).
Bravest I've been was a nice sweeping bend at 95 leptons and the bike was rock solid and stable, and I feel no wind buffeting until 100 leptons. There's a scratch on the left fairing but apart from that, the bike is clean.
So I'd say the chances of you getting a decent CBR600 for £1500 are very good. I have no garage and nowhere to maintain the bike, it lives outdoors and the weather turned to st as soon as I decided to buy a bike but the Honda just keeps going. The chances of me just being 'extremely lucky' are zero if you know anything whatsoever about the last 4 years of my life (let's just say that everything that could st on me from a height did, and the only good luck is that I'm actually alive) - besides, I bought it from a dodgy dealer underground in Shoreditch so I doubt I got the bike at a bargain price. That must be what they're worth, and I'm happy with my bike.
So yeah - get a CBR600 - you may have to get an F rather than an RR, but that means you can stick your girlfriend on the back and she'll actually be able to operate her legs afterwards (which is important for certain things) Mine even complained that there was too much room on the back of the 600F...

congrats. my sv650s is up for sale very soon. 14500 miles 06 model in a lovely napoleon blue. has crash protectors, datatool alarm/immobiliser, scorpion can (legal but sounds awesome)
ideal 1st bike. my insurance was 217 tpft with zero no claims.
does over 50mpg easy and i get 55-58 regularly. worst 48.
i went from useless to ok within 15 rides cos its so forgiving and confidence inspiring.
does 0-60 4.3 & 0-100 in 9.5 secs apparently so hardly slow!
plus with it being a v-twin, theres loads of grunt in the low-mid range,
so you dont need to thrash it.
theres nice pull from 4k and loads from 6k revs. it has a pretty flat torque curve.
an r6 doesnt start till 10k, hardly ideal for commuting!
i paid just under 3k in march so would ask 2600 or 2500 for a quickie.
its in doncaster.
